Larry attended Southampton College on an art scholarship, graduating with a BFA. In 1994 Larry and a group of friends opened a small gallery in Bellport. Living on Long Island, the coastal landscape was a natural choice of subject matter and his work immediately began to attract a following.
Continually seeking to refine his skills, Larry has attended workshops with locally and nationally recognized artists including Joe Reboli, Christian White, David Curtis, Charles Sovek and several with Don Demers. In 2004 he was elected an Artist Member of the American Society of Marine Artists. Two of Larry’s paintings were featured in Arts and Antiques magazine in an article on collecting art in the Hamptons and ten of his paintings have appeared on the cover of Dan’s Papers. Larry is represented by Chrysalis Gallery in Southampton, New York and The Hearle Gallery in Chatham, Massachusetts.
Artists's Statement As a native Long Islander, I am constantly aware of the waters that surround my island home. The ocean, sound, bays and harbors often become the subject of my paintings. I am also fascinated by the special quality of light that living near the ocean brings; it can elevate the ordinary to the sublime.
